For the promotion of research in particular scientific areas, the Executive Council may institute standing field committees. The chairs of the standing field committees are elected for a two-year renewable term. The committees may cooperate and consult people who are not members of the Verein to participate as guests.

In 2013, the chairs of the standing field committees and the members of the Verein were invited to answer two different opinion surveys concerning the activities and organizational structure of the standing field committees as well as their significance within the Verein für Socialpolitik. The surveys can be downloaded here as pdf-files:
