Award of the medal 2014: Hans-Werner Sinn
During his time as chairman (1997-2000), Hans-Werner Sinn introduced central innovations in the Verein für Socialpolitik. Through the new edition of the association's journals, the introduction of the innovative lecture award programme for young scientists and the first award of the Gossen Prize, he has given the association decisive impulses that will have a lasting influence on our society.
The first Gustav Schmoller Medal was awarded to Hans-Werner Sinn by Chairman Michael C. Burda at the VfS Annual Conference 2014 in Hamburg.
Award of the medal 2014: Olaf W. Reimann
Quietly and almost unobserved, Olaf W. Reimann oversaw the introduction, further development and maintenance of the submission and review platform of the Open Conference for more than a decade. His competent support of the preparatory commissions has enabled a tripling of the volume of papers to be reviewed. In this way he helped the Association to make the Annual Conference one of the most important events in the world of economics in Europe.
The second Gustav Schmoller Medal was awarded to Olaf W. Reimann by Chairman Michael C. Burda on the occasion of the VfS Annual Conference 2014 in Hamburg.
